Terms of Hire
Rates & Charges
All rates are quoted in USD and may vary depending on the season, vehicle type, and duration of rental. Daily rental charges are based on 24-hour periods. Rates may be subject to change without notice, particularly during peak travel seasons.
Car Rental Levy
The rate of the levy is $2.50 USD per day, applied for a maximum of 7 consecutive days per rental agreement.
If a rental period exceeds 7 days, no additional levy will be charged beyond the maximum total of $17.50 USD.
This fee is a government-mandated charge and is not subject to waiver or discount. The levy will be automatically included in your rental total at the time of booking.
Driver Requirements
Drivers must be 24 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license held for at least three years. Drivers over 70 years of age may still rent, but a valid medical certificate will be required (submitted in advance or presented upon arrival).
Payment Method
Journey Car Rental requires a deposit to secure all bookings. This deposit is non-refundable. Once a reservation request has been made, customers will receive a secure payment link to complete the deposit online. The remaining balance is due upon arrival and may be settled by credit/debit card or cash. Please note that reservations are not considered confirmed until the deposit payment has been received.
Extension of Hire
Requests to extend the rental period must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Extensions are subject to vehicle availability and additional charges.
Cancellation Policy
In the event of a no-show or cancellation, the deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee. We recommend notifying us as early as possible if you need to adjust or cancel your reservation.
Fuel Policy
Vehicles are delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned the same. A refueling fee will be charged if the tank is not full upon return.
Additional Drivers
A second driver can be added to the rental at a cost of $15 USD, provided they meet all driver requirements. A third driver may be added at a cost of $2 USD per day. All additional drivers must be listed on the rental agreement and hold valid driver’s licenses and Barbados permits.
Insurance Coverage
Standard rental includes third-party liability insurance. Clients are only held financially responsible if they are at fault in an accident. In such cases, an excess of up to $1,750 USD applies. If the client is not at fault, no excess is charged.
Extended Roadside Assistance
All rentals include basic roadside assistance. Extended coverage is available for additional peace of mind, including flat tires, battery jump-start, and lockouts.
Unlimited Mileage
All rentals come with unlimited mileage, so you can explore Barbados without restrictions.
Airport Delivery & Pickup
We offer delivery and pickup at Grantley Adams International Airport for a fee of $15 USD. After-hours delivery or pickup may incur an additional charge and must be arranged in advance.
Delivery Service
Complimentary delivery is available within designated areas. Please provide exact delivery address at the time of booking.
Keys & Fobs
Renters are responsible for lost or damaged keys/fobs. Replacement fees will apply.
Delayed Flights
If your flight is delayed, please notify us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate adjustments in delivery or pickup time.
Smoking & Valet Charges
Smoking is strictly prohibited in all vehicles. A valet/detailing fee of up to $150 USD will be charged if smoking or excessive dirt is detected.
Payment Methods
We provide secure online payment links that accept both credit and debit cards. We also accept cash payments upon delivery, if arranged in advance.
